As the year progressed other committee and club members donned the mantle of Breed judges. One of our members who attended and passed our seminar last year had her first judging appointment. Petula Field.
13.05.07 Saw the last of the currently
competing Kooikers, qualify for Crufts 2008. Earlier, in April and May,
three of our committee menbers were asked to judge our breed at Open
Shows, Sheila and Ken Rees and Peter Swinburn. Edwina Kennedey is to Judge
Leeds Championship Show.
11.3.2007 Crufts 2007 is over and yet again we had a very
successful 4 days at discover dogs. With many visitors eager for more
information about the kooikerhondje. We even ran out of leaflets on the
breed. All the dogs were very well behaved and did us all proud. Thank you
again to all dogs and owners. Especially Ken Rees who was there for the
full four days without fail.
3.2007 March’s issue of Your Dog Magazine offered a 3 page article on
the Kooikerhondje. This is written by Andrew Brace and the photographs
which are excellent, feature Sue and Roy Whybrow's dogs. This has
generated a great deal of interest in the breed. Unfortunatly there are a
few mistakes which we will correct now. The Whybrow’s kennels are called
Unosta not Unotha. And puppies do not cost £400 over here, in fact they
cost quite a bit more as I’m sure most of the buyers realise.
16.2.2007 New Applicant Judges and Breed Notes are up ( links above )
10.2.2007 We had another judging assessment at the Great Alne Village
Hall which went very well. Big thank you to the dogs and their handlers
for being patient and helping with the judging and we hope you enjoyed
your complementary wine.
01.01.2007 New Year's Day saw the Kooiker taken off the import register
and their first show with breed classes. These were scheduled by Coventry
Ladies Kennel Society and our judge was Mr Roly Cross. There were eleven
entries over all. Before judging we were all well away on the champagne,
three bottles in all. These were thoughtfully supplied by Julia and Peter,
Celia and John Clarke, and Edwina Kennedy, many thanks folks we really
enjoyed it, not too sure what the other exhibitors thought though! It was
very nice to see Kay Miller again with two of her Kooikers, her day was
worth while as she won Best Puppy with her home bred Millhanger Chloe.
04.11.2006 A breed seminar was held at the Great Alne Village Hall in
Warwickshire. With a view to educating people who not only want to judge
the breed, but those who have a real interest in it. Everyone seemed to
really enjoy the day and we were thrilled with people asking more
questions about the breeds original job as a dutch decoy. A big thank you
to everyone who helped with the judge assessment, and an especially a big
thank you to Julia and Peter Swinburn who helped to organise the
event.
